“The Sacrifice of Sunshine Girl” by Paige McKenzie

Description by Goodreads.com:

Is Sunshine Griffith who she thinks she is? Now that her luiseach powers are fully awakened, and having barely survived an abyss full of demons at the end of Book Two, Sunshine must figure out who—or what—has been organizing the forces of darkness against her.

Thanks to her brainiac boyfriend, Nolan, they not only unearth that Sunshine’s death would trigger a calamitous event, but that all civilization depends on her survival. So when an unexpected event unleashes a fierce war between the luiseach and the demon army, Sunshine will learn a shocking truth about herself. Can she bring herself to make the ultimate sacrifice to save humankind?

I was so excited to get this book and finish out “The Haunting of Sunshine Girl” series.  This book is the final book in the series, and it did not disappoint.  In this final chapter of Paige McKenzie’s series, Sunshine takes on the demons of all demons.  She is faced with many dangers and learns a great deal about her family history.

This book really tied the series together and kept the energy going.  There were definitely some twists and surprises, but there were some pieces that were easily put together by the reader (but not the main character).  There were times when I was reading the book that I questioned why Sunshine couldn’t figure out some obvious things happening, then I had to remind myself that she is only sixteen.  I suppose I get pretty caught up with the characters when I am really into a book.

Like the second book, this one lacked a little of the chill factor that the first book had, but there was plenty of action and suspense to keep you going.  Overall I would say that the series was great and I highly recommend it to people that enjoy young adult fiction with suspense and a little spook.
